The 2021 Mazda 6 is one engaging ride that is gifted with high-end cabin materials and potent engine options. It boasts of agile handling too. It comes standard with the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A Carbon Edition trim is also added in its list of offerings.
As for the 2021 Nissan Altima, it promises a cushioned ride with comfortable and roomy seating configurations inside. It is displeasing to note that it does not carry Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as a standard.
Design & Style
The 2021 Mazda 6 has a seating configuration for five people. You will find well-contoured seats up front and there is adult-friendly seating in the two rows of seats. There is enough legroom and headroom on both rows as well. This midsize car is also considered to have one of the nicest cabins out there. Since it has upscale materials inside, many find it like a luxury vehicle. There is even an option to upgrade to genuine leather, as well as heated and ventilated front seats.
The 2021 Altima, meanwhile, also has some of the well-bolstered seats in its class. There is plenty of room to accommodate adult passengers throughout the cabin. It also has some quality materials in the cabin, but it does not have the same charm as that of the Mazda 6. The presence of hard plastics makes it quite questionable in this aspect too.
Technology & Safety
The 2021 Mazda 6 carries the Mazda Connect infotainment system with an eight-inch touch screen. This is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, voice recognition, two USB ports, and an HD radio. There is a lockout feature in the touch screen, as well as a central knob that drivers can use to access the interface while driving. Standard safety features include rearview camera, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, and rear cross traffic alert. Also included are lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and forward automatic emergency braking.
The 2021 Altima, meanwhile, also boasts of a NissanConnect infotainment system. This user-friendly interface includes features such as the Bluetooth, two USB ports, satellite radio, voice recognition, and six speakers. Safety equipment in the ride are not as impressive as those found in the Mazda 6, though. It only carries a rearview camera, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Performance
The 2021 Mazda 6 has two engine options. One is the four-cylinder, 2.5-liter that can generate up to 187 horsepower. There is a turbo-four that allows it to reach up to 227 horsepower, and can even go up to 250 horsepower. The Altima's 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine can only reach up to 182 horsepower.
The Bottom Line
The 2021 Mazda 6 has a lot of good traits that are worthy of praise. The Altima has a few to mention. This makes the Mazda better over its Nissan counterpart.
