2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV

Introducing the CX-70 PHEV, Mazda's Newest SUV

The Mazda CX-70 PHEV is what you get when you like all the bells and whistles of the CX-90 PHEV but do not need its third row. You get a lavish and sporty midsize SUV with seating for five, a powerful hybrid powertrain, and elegant design features. If you've been looking for an upscale SUV that won't break the bank and reduce your carbon footprint, the CX-70 PHEV is an excellent option.

Design

The CX-70 PHEV is essentially the same model as the CX-90 Hybrid, just minus the third row. As such, drivers can expect the CX-70 PHEV to offer a similar exquisite exterior design and upscale cabin. Speaking of the cabin, here drivers will find high-end materials littered throughout its two rows and ample cargo space with hidden storage under the flat floor.

Performance

The all-new Mazda CX-70 PHEV is powered by the same setup as the CX-90 Hybrid - a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system for a combined output of 323 hp. Attached is an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

The EPA has yet to release information on the CX-70 PHEV fuel economy. But we do know that the CX-70 PHEV will have an all-electric range of about 26 miles. Also, given that the CX-70 PHEV has the same powertrains as the CX-90, we expect the numbers to be similar at 24 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

Also, according to Mazda, the model's 17.8-kWh battery pack can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 90 minutes on a 240-volt connection.

Offers & Incentives

Technology

Throughout the various trims of the CX-70 PHEV comes a wealth of tech. A 12.3-inch infotainment system is standard, and with it comes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and optional Amazon Alexa integration. In higher trims, there's a 12-speaker Bose stereo system and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, along with an optional head-up display for reading road and street signs..

Safety Features

Along with borrowing design features and the powertrain of the CX-90, the CX-70 also borrows many of its safety features. Namely, it's i-Activsense bundle. In this bundle comes advanced driver-aids such as forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and a safe exit warning system.

Trims

There are two trim options for the new Mazda CX-70 PHEV: PHEV Premium and PHEV Premium Plus.

PHEV Premium: This trim comes with features the base features found in the non-hybrid model, such as roof rails, a power liftgate, and leather upholstery. Additionally, this trim also comes with adaptive headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and a surround-view camera system.

PHEV Premium Plus: Offering all the features of the PHEV Premium, the Premium Plus features more amenities. These include premium leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel.
