The 2021 Mazda CX-9 has a lot of good things to offer to car buyers out there. It has the Carbon edition trim, plus has updated its infotainment system. It has powerful engines with excellent gas mileage ratings.
For the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, there is a promise to offer an intuitive infotainment system to its users. Passengers will find comfort in its spacious seating configuration. When compared to the 2020 edition, there are no major changes for this version, though.
Design & Style
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 has a total of 38.2 cubic feet of space behind the second row when all seats are in use. Once the rear seats are folded down flat, the trunk capacity expands to accommodate 71.2 cubic feet of trunk capacity. Basically, the vehicle has seats for up to seven people with a second-row bench, and six with captain's chairs. It also has a sliding and reclining feature for easier access to the third row. This ride comes standard with heated front seats, cloth upholstery, and six-way power adjustments. There are plenty of nice materials in its cabin, making it look like luxury vehicles from Audi and Lexus.
The 2021 Chevy Traverse, on the other hand, is loaded with great space at the back once the second and third row seats are folded when they are not in use. The ride basically seats eight passengers, which can be reduced to seven at the option of the owner to use captain's chairs instead of the second-row bench. It has a good-looking cabin, but not as charming as the one found in the CX-9.
Technology & Safety
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 uses the Mazda Connect Infotainment system. This is paired with a 10.3-inch touch screen which quickly responses to user inputs and displays readable graphics. There are well-placed physical controls in the cabin too. This has six speakers, tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Safety features are plenty for this ride, and the long list includes forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rearview camera, forward automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, and rear cross traffic alert.
The 2021 Traverse has a well-organized interface that is paired with a small seven-inch touch screen. This integrates apple CarPlay and Android Auto, has six USB ports, Wi-Fi hot spot, and a Bluetooth interface. It is frustrating that it only has a few safety features such as the buckle up reminder, Teen Driver, rearview camera, and rear-seat reminder.
Performance
Powering the CX-9 is a base turbo-four, 2.5-liter engine under its hood that can yield up to 227 horsepower. This goes up to 250 horsepower with premium gasoline. In the case of the Traverse, there is a V6 engine that produces up to 310 horsepower. There is that terrible noise that the engine makes when you step on the brakes.
The Bottom Line
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 never fails when it comes to impressing would-be buyers who are looking for a large SUV. This one has plenty of features, all of them reliable at all angles. This definitely puts the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse down a notch in rankings.
