The 2021 Mazda CX-9 offers excellent gas mileage, a powerful engine, and energetic and lively handling. It also has an opulent cabin, and an updated infotainment system. It now carries the new Carbon edition trim.
The 2021 Kia Telluride, on the other hand, is a ride that has a long list of standard equipment. It offers composed handling as well. The Nightfall Edition package is a welcome addition to this vehicle.
Design & Style
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 is gifted with up to 71.2 cubic feet of space when the second and third rows are folded down. It can seat up to seven people, which can be configured to six if you go for captain's chairs on the second row. It has six-way power adjustments for the driver seat, and comes standard with cloth upholstery, and heated front seats too. The setup is upgraded to real wood inlays and aluminum accents for higher trims. All the nice materials for the cabin give it a luxurious feel, similar to a ride from Lexus or Audi.
The 2021 Telluride can seat up to eight people, and there is an option to lower that down to seven if you opt for captain's chairs for the second-row. Seats are wrapped in synthetic leather upholstery. The stylish interior is also impressive for the ride. Some road noise can be heard inside when the ride is on the go.
Technology & Safety
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 has the Mazda Connect Infotainment system which has a 10.3-inch touch screen display. This one flawlessly integrates Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The setup has physical controls that support the already user-friendly touch screen. It has tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, Wi-Fi hot spot, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and six speakers. It has a long list of safety features which includes rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning, among others.
The Telluride, meanwhile, uses a smaller eight-inch touch screen for its infotainment interface. It also has other features like the HD and satellite radios, five USB ports, and Bluetooth. It can integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, too. Safety features are not as reliable as those found in the CX-9 though.
Performance
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 gets its power from a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine that is turbocharged to aspirate 227 horsepower if you use regular gas. That goes up to 250 horsepower if you opt to use premium gas instead. That of the 3.8-liter, V6 version in the Telluride can only yield up to 291 horsepower. With that engine size, the result could have reached more than 300 horsepower already.
The Bottom Line
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 is one ride that has all the qualities that you are looking for. With its price cap, it is so elegant, you will feel like you are using a luxury ride for the amount you invest.
