The Mazda 6 and the Honda Accord Sedan are two of the most popular mid-size sedans on the market. Both of these vehicles have been around for years and earned a loyal following, but they still offer some unique features that make each one stands out from their competition. In this article, we'll compare their features and prices to help you decide which one is right for you!
Design & Style
- Exterior Design
Let's start with the exterior design. The 2022 Mazda 6 has a more aggressive front end than the 2022 Honda Accord Sedan, with a bulged hood and large grille integrated into its fascia. This gives it a very sporty look, appealing to many drivers. In contrast, the 2022 Honda Accord Sedan looks more conservatively styled with its thinner headlight design and smaller grille opening compared to its companion from Japan. However, both cars offer an attractive combination of curves and angles along their back lines that create an appealing appearance from any angle.
- Interior Design
Inside, the 2022 Mazda 6 is more modern than the 2022 Honda Accord Sedan. The latter has a very dated touchscreen interface and an outdated cabin design. The latter's seats are also not nearly as comfortable or supportive as those in the former. The 2022 Mazda 6 has a lot of storage spots throughout its interior, while there isn't much available storage space in the 2022 Honda Accord Sedan at all. Finally, we think most people will prefer driving around with their smartphone mounted on top of their dash instead of having it held in their hand or placed on their lap like you can do with both models' infotainment systems (something to keep in mind if you have kids).
Technology & Safety
The new Mazda 6 has a lot to offer regarding features and technology. The base model comes with the "Driver Assistance Package," which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. This package is also available on higher trims of the vehicle.
The Honda Accord doesn't offer anything similar at this time. Still, it has many standard features, such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and a hands-free power tailgate that can be opened by waving your foot under the rear bumper (standard on Touring trim).
Performance
One of the most important aspects of any car is its engine performance. When choosing a new car, you should consider how fast it can accelerate, how efficient it is, and whether or not its engine has a good reputation for reliability and longevity.
Mazda did an excellent job with its new turbocharged 2.5L inline-four engine; despite being slightly smaller in displacement than both engines in the Honda Accord Sedan lineup (which are all naturally aspirated), it produces nearly as much horsepower (187 hp) and torque (186 lb-ft). One notable difference between these two models is that while both engines are mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions, only one transmission option exists for each model-the six speed manual gearbox versus nine speed automatic transmissions for both cars, respectively.
The Bottom Line
If you're looking for a stylish, comfortable, fun-to-drive sedan with great fuel economy, the 2022 Mazda 6 is a better choice. With its roomy interior, host of standard features, and affordable price tag, it's hard to go wrong with this car.
