If you don't change the oil in your vehicle on a regular basis, you run the danger of causing damage to the engine. Because of advancements in engine technology, most modern vehicles may travel anywhere from 7,500 to 10,000 miles without requiring an oil change. In the past, it was suggested that drivers replace their oil every 3,000 miles; however, this recommendation is no longer in effect. It goes without saying that you should consult the owner's handbook of your vehicle at least once before making any decisions on the frequency with which you should replace your oil. Or, of course, if you have any inquiries, the service staff at Riley Mazda is here to assist you in any way they can.
How To Do Mazda Engine Oil Change
- Raise the vehicle so that you can have access to the underbody shield.
- Take off the oil filter's protective cover using a Phillips screwdriver or an 8 mm socket. The cover is made of a little piece of plastic.
- Remove the oil filter by using a wrench socket designed for oil filters.
- When draining the oil from the oil filter, you will need to make use of a certain container.
- Take off the cover of the engine.
- Take the lid off the hole where you put the oil so that it may drain more quickly.
- Take off the protective cover made of plastic to have access to the drain stopper.
- Using a hex key measuring 8 millimeters, remove the drain plug.
- Hold your breath while the oil runs out. Put the used oil in the appropriate container after collecting it.
- Adjust the drain plug's screw again.
- Utilizing the oil filter wrench socket installation tool, replace the old oil filter with the new one.
- Put the correct amount of oil into the engine.
- Position the cap over the opening for the oil filler.
- Place the plastic coverings on the underbody shield in their original positions.
- First, allow the oil to sit in the engine oil pan for five to ten minutes so that it may settle, and then use the dipstick to check the oil level.
- After starting the engine and allowing it to run for approximately 10 minutes, check for leaks at both the drain plug and the oil filter.
- Check it once more after waiting 10 minutes with the engine turned off. If the oil level is lower than the minimum mark, it is recommended that additional oil be added.
