You should become familiar with the operation of the Mazda Cruise Control if it is included in your vehicle and you plan to use it. Long-distance highway driving is made considerably more comfortable with this technology. We will walk you through the controls while also offering an explanation of how the system operates and the functions it performs.

What Is the Cruise Control System in the Mazda?

Let's start with the basics: what exactly is Mazda's cruise control system? The system functions similarly to other cruise control mechanisms in that it keeps your desired speed constant, with one crucial difference. The cars in front of you will be tracked by Cruise Control as well. Using this information, the car will automatically slow down as necessary to keep a safe distance from the car in front of you. Without having to disable cruise control or actively override the system, you may maintain a safe following distance to any car ahead. That's why there are two settings: one for keeping your speed constant, and another for keeping a certain distance from the car in front of you (called "headway control").

How To Set Cruise Control For Mazda Cars

It won't take you long to get the hang of using the Cruise Control system because it doesn't deviate all that significantly from what you're used to using. This is how the process goes:

  • Simply press one of the buttons located on the right-hand side of the steering wheel to activate the cruise control. The system can be activated by manually turning it on using the ON
  • To change your speed, you need only push one of the buttons labelled SET + or SET -, which are located on the steering wheel. You'll be able to see the cruise control's speed and distance indicators while you're behind the wheel thanks to the Active Driving Display.
  • Use the arrow switches on the steering wheel to alter the distance between your car and the vehicle in front of you to your preferred setting. Pulling the "up" arrow will result in a shorter distance, while pushing the "down" arrow will result in a longer distance.

The following chart, which uses a speed of 50 miles per hour as an assumption, allows for the selection of up to 4 different distances:

  • Approximately 164 feet in length (4 distance bars).
  • Medium (3 distance bars), which is approximately 131 feet away.
  • About 98 feet for the short distance (there are 2 distance bars).
  • Exceptionally Brief (1distance bar), around 82 feet.

On the highway, you should find that driving is lot more comfortable now that you are familiar with how the Mazda Cruise Control system operates and how to utilise it properly.
